Project Overview
Tailored Lofts built this contemporary L-shaped house extension in Leyton, London E10, replacing a poorly constructed prior addition. The project focused on integrating ample light and an open-plan living concept, elevating the standard for home extensions in the Leyton area.
Challenges
One of the primary challenges was managing the project while the homeowners continued to reside in the property. It was imperative to minimize disturbance, maintain cleanliness, and control dust. Solution
The poorly built existing extension was completely knocked down. Tailored Lofts then knocked through some of the existing walls to accommodate the new structures. A distinctive feature of the new extension is the glass roof over the side return, designed to maximize the entry of daylight and enhance the spatial feel.
The kitchen was conceptualized as an open-plan area, integrating cooking, dining, and social spaces. This layout, combined with the abundant natural light from the glass roof, creates a welcoming environment that is both functional for everyday use and ideal for entertaining guests.
