Located in Walthamstow, a terraced house untouched for over five decades awaited a transformation. The homeowners, equipped with a precise vision and meticulously selected design elements, sought to blend the classical Victorian aesthetic with modern functionality, aiming to create a cozy, comfortable family home. Tailored Lofts were tasked with updating the property to meet contemporary living standards while respecting its historical charm.
Execution
The transformation journey began with a single dormer loft conversion. French doors overlooking the garden and Velux windows at the front introduced a flood of natural light, resulting in a spacious bedroom complete with an en-suite bathroom that perfectly balanced privacy and openness.
The renovation continued on the first floor with the remodeling of a bathroom, where a freestanding bathtub became the centerpiece, beautifully harmonized with the floor tiles and classic style sanitary fixtures. The character of the house was further enhanced by the restoration of original features, such as use of reclaimed doors and sanded floors.
On the ground floor, significant structural modifications were made. The renovation of an old extension included raising the roof to fit two skylights and installing bifold sliding doors to maximize daylight. This, combined with the dining area, created a vast open space for family socializing and entertainment. The front room, accentuated by a beautiful hearth and decorative covings, showcased the finesse required to work with such intricate details.
